Studia Romanistica is a scholarly journal dedicated to publishing original research in linguistics, translation studies, literature, and culture in Romance-speaking regions. It also publishes reviews of scholarly publications and reports on conferences and significant events in the field of Romance linguistics and literature.

The journal covers a wide range of linguistic topics, including phonology, morphology, lexicology, semantics, syntax, and terminology, from both a synchronic and a diachronic perspective. It also publishes research in translation studies and in cognitive, comparative, and corpus linguistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and the teaching of Romance languages.

Within traditional fields such as literary history (including comparative literary studies), literary theory, and literary criticism, the journal welcomes submissions that propose interdisciplinary approaches. These may explore, for example, the relationship between literary works and sociological or psychological approaches. Research into the reception of literary texts, as well as the relationship between literature and memory or post-memory, also falls within the journal′s scope.

Contributions are published primarily in Spanish, French, and Italian, with other Romance languages also accepted. Each article is accompanied by two abstracts: one in the language of the article and the other in English.

All submissions undergo an anonymous peer-review process. The editorial board requires at least two independent expert reviews in the relevant field. In cases of significant disagreement between reviewers, a third review may be requested. Detailed information on the peer-review process is available in the Publication Ethics section.

Studia Romanistica continues the tradition of the collected papers published by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava under the same name as part of the Acta Facultatis Philosophicae Universitatis Ostraviensis. The first volume was published in 1999. Starting with the second volume in 2002, the journal was published annually, and since 2009 it has been published biannually.

There are no fees for submitting, processing, or publishing manuscripts. All content is available free of charge. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and cite full-text articles published in the journal without prior permission from the publisher or the author.

The journal is indexed in the following databases: Scopus, ERIH Plus, EBSCO, Linguistic Bibliography (Brill), MIAR, MLA International Bibliography, Index Copernicus International, Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB), Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB), DOAJ, Latindex, and AskBisht. All articles published in the journal are assigned a DOI.
