Studia Romanistica is a scholarly journal that publishes original, previously unpublished studies on the linguistics, translation, literature, and culture of the Romance countries, particularly from the French-, Spanish- and Italian-speaking areas. It also publishes reviews of scientific publications and reports on conferences and important events of scientific nature from these fields.

The linguistic issues covered by the journal include, among others, translation issues, corpus linguistics, lexicology, semantics, morphology, syntax, sociolinguistics, comparative linguistics, terminology, and romance languages teaching.

Within traditional fields such as literary history (including literary comparative studies), literary theory and literary criticism, the journal also welcomes authors proposing interdisciplinary approaches and exploring, for example, the relationship between the literary work, on the one hand, and sociology or psychology, on the other. Research into the reader's reception of literary texts, as well as the relationship between literature and memory or post-memory, rank also among the journal profile topics.

Contributions are published in Spanish, French, Italian and possibly in other Romance languages; in case of comparative studies also in combination with Czech or Slovak. They are accompanied with two abstracts: one in the language of the study, and one in English.

Contributions are submitted to an anonymous peer review process, where the editorial board requires at least two independent reviews. In the event of a significant disagreement between the reviewers, a third review may be requested. The reviewers are selected from a workplace different from the workplace of the author of the paper.

Studia Romanistica is a continuation of the collected papers of the same name, published by the Department of Romance Studies in Ostrava since 1995 (Acta Facultatis Philosophicae Universitatis Ostraviensis). The collected papers were published annually since the second volume, published in 2002. Since 2009, Studia Romanistica has been published twice a year, under ISSN 1803-6406. The journal is registered in the databases of scientific journals SCOPUS, ERIH PLUS, EBSCO, MIAR, and DOAJ. All articles published in the journal are assigned a DOI identifier.

There are no fees for submitting, processing and publishing the manuscript. All contents are available free of charge. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and refer to full-text articles in this journal, without prior permission of the publisher or the author.
