Life at the Department

Besides its standard compulsory and optional courses, the Department also runs a wide range of events and programmes which go beyond the curriculum itself and encompass various aspects of Slavonic philology.

• An annual translation competition for students at Czech universities, culminating in a conference and translation workshops
• Slavica iuvenum – an international conference for students of Slavonic studies
• Student Grant Competition – a system of research projects involving Master’s and doctoral students and their teachers
• Lectures by leading figures and experts from the Czech Republic and abroad
• Funded study stays in Poland, Russia and other European countries
• Student excursions related to Slavonic cultures, summer schools of Polish language and culture
