AnotationThe aim of the project is a philosophical examination of the problem of normativity in relation to society, human values, structures of thought, and facts. The members of the research team will focus on topics related to the history of normative systems (the question of human and social freedom within the specific political context of the 18th century, approached through the philosophical reflection of Jean-Jacques Rousseau), as well as on the normative implications of contemporary political-ethical theory that connects and synthesizes naturalistic and constructivist approaches to human and social values (primarily following the work of Martha Nussbaum, whose ideas will be complemented and confronted with contemporary virtue ethics). Further research will address the socio-political analysis of the value and normative neutrality of digital technologies (the understanding of new technologies as political-ideological instruments through the lens of critical theory) and, lastly, the value and normative implications of naturalized neo-Quinean metaphysics (to what extent our value commitments can influence our coherent system of beliefs; analogously, this can be applied to the choice of metaphysical theories within naturalized metaphysics and to the value non-neutrality of science). This heterogeneous approach to the examined issue will enable a philosophical reflection on the question of normativity across various dimensions of humanity from multiple perspectives. Consequently, the project will contribute to understanding normative thought as an inherently human conceptual grasp of the world, thereby revealing not only the limits but also the potential directions of human thinking.
