AnotationTadeusz Romanowicz (1843-1904), Polish liberal-democratic politician, political scientist and journalist, member of the Galician Provincial Assembly in Lemberg (Lviv) and the Imperial Council in Vienna. At the beginning of 1863 he left his law studies at the University of Lvov and joined the anti-Russian (so-called January) uprising in the Russian occupation of Poland. After the defeat of the uprising and his return to Lviv, he was interned by the Austrian authorities and imprisoned in Olomouc in 1864-1865. His memoirs also date from this period, which under the title "Olomouc. Wspomnienie z lat 1864 i 1865" published in 1871 in the Literary Newspaper (Gazeta Literacka) in Lviv. It is about 40-50 pages of text written in the literary (high) Polish of the second half of the 19th century. The aim of the project is to present the Czech reader with an annotated translation of the work, including an introductory study that introduces not only the author himself, but also the time and the wider context in which the story takes place. The text will be published in the 10th volume of the NOBILITAS IN HISTORIA MODERNA series.
