AnotationThe project "The Role of the Elites in Medieval Czech Lands II" builds on the research activities of the Vivarium Centre and its previous projects dedicated to understanding various aspects of medieval society, culture and sources. The main aim and contribution of the proposed project is the intensive involvement of PhD and MA students in History/Historical Sciences in teamwork and research of medieval (not only) written sources with a focus on the possibilities of their interdisciplinary research, analysis and interpretation. The team will follow the previous project and focus on (ongoing) research on the question of elites in the Czech lands or in Central Europe in the Middle Ages. Emphasis will be placed on the topics that individual team members are working on in their dissertations, theses, and professional research activities. Attention will be paid not only to the monarchy, but also to members of the nobility and the ecclesiastical and urban elites. The composition of the team will allow the issues to be approached from a broader perspective: cultural, economic, social and legal, and a variety of methodological and interpretive approaches will be included. This will lead in part to final results from academics and PhD students in the form of articles or studies in peer-reviewed journals and active participation of all team members in workshops or conferences.
