Annotation:
The aim of this course is to introduce the philosophical work of the Czech philosopher, theologian, writer, and educational reformer Jan Amos Komenský (Ioannes Amos Comenius, John Amos Comenius; 1592-1670). The lectures will focus on Comenius's biography and provide a general overview of his work. They will also explore in detail his philosophical development, theological ideas, and contributions to educational theory. In the seminars, we will examine selected texts by Comenius in available English translations.
