Conference Invitation

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the eleventh meeting of Studia humanitatis, which will take place at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava, on 12–13 May 2026.

The aim of the conference is to explore essential questions at the intersection of philosophy, theology, aesthetics, literary theory, linguistics, and art history. The connecting element and main methodological principle of this collective project is the application of interpretative approaches of philosophical and philological hermeneutics.

  • Philosophy, Ethics and Religion (History of Philosophy, Ethics, Theology, Religious Studies, Theory of Philosophical Hermeneutics, Theory of Philological Hermeneutics)
  • Languages and Literature (General Linguistics, Language Studies, Literary Theory, Comparative Literature, Specific Literary Traditions)
  • Arts and Art History

The results of the colloquium will be published in the forthcoming peer-reviewed volume of the collective monograph Studia humanitatis – Ars hermeneutica: Methodology and Theurgy of Hermeneutic Interpretation, which accepts papers in Czech, English, Polish, Russian, and Slovak.
