| Anotation | The lexicon of contemporary Czech is necessarily influenced by contact with foreign languages. Although English holds the most prominent position among the languages from which words are borrowed in the current Czech, not only recently have a number of loan words from Spanish penetrated into Czech. Hence, the goal of this proposed one-year project is the analysis of Spanish loan words used in contemporary Czech. We will focus on mapping older and new Spanish loan words in current lexicographic manuals and corpora, we will be interested in their orthographic forms or possible inconsistency, and we will follow the semantic areas in which Spanish loan words occur most frequently. |
