AnotationThe aim of the project is to explore historical and contemporary transformations of societal and scientific paradigms from a philosophical perspective. The members of the research team will focus on topics related to the history of philosophy and science (reflective consequences of Antisthenes' epistemological-ethical teachings or Pyrrhonian skepticism in antiquity; exploration of the formation of the medieval scientific paradigm; Nietzsche's reflection and critique of contemporary evolutionary theories). They will also delve into more recent transformations of philosophical theories with scientific implications (the relationship between psychology and logic, including terminological consequences in the Lvov-Warsaw School; Quine's metaontology; philosophy of history and historiography). Lastly, the project will address the current issues in new technologies (art and aesthetics; political implications and individual rights). This heterogeneous approach to the researched issues will facilitate a multifaceted understanding and philosophical reflection of the changes in the societal and scientific realm. The contemporary transformations in society and science will be comprehensively examined, considering various factors rather than in isolation or exclusively within disciplines. The project will reveal not only the initiating influence of philosophy on these changes but also the possibilities and limitations of philosophy in reflecting and, if necessary, correcting these issues. The international scope of the project (i.e., studies planned in the English language and participation in international conferences) will also enable the presentation of research findings not only to the Czech expert audience.
