| Anotation | The aim of the proposed project is to describe and interpret representation of industrial and postindustrial environment of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, with an emphasis on transformations of space imagination, typical narratives, and iconographic types and methods of mythologisation. The source of the research will be a wide set of literary texts (marginally also journalistic texts) and works of visual arts (photographs, works of art in architecture and public space). Due to the multilingual nature of the both regions, it will be necessary to examine literature in the Czech, Polish and German languages, or dialects, from a cross border viewpoint. The interdisciplinary Czech- Polish team team will apply the tools of the semiotics of culture, ecocriticism, geopoetics and critical discourse analysis. |
