About the Department
The Department of History is a centre for both research and teaching with over five decades of experience in its field.
The Department teaches a wide range of degrees and courses at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, either as single-subject degrees or in combination with another subject (e.g. English, German, etc.). Graduates of the Master’s degrees continue their studies in the Department’s doctoral programmes (Economic and Social History, Czech and Czechoslovak History).
Members of the Department are actively involved in a range of national and university-level research projects and publish extensively in their specialist fields. The Department also has numerous links with partner institutions abroad as part of its research cooperation and via the Erasmus+ student exchange programme. The Department has its own specialist research library which currently contains around 22 000 volumes.
