Professor of Slavonic Philology (Polish / Russian Studies)

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure, ref. number: OU-31183/25-2025, to fill an academic position of:

  • Professor of Slavonic Philology (Polish / Russian Studies)

Expected starting date:

  • on 1st September, 2025 at the latest, or by agreement.

Working hours:

  • full-time: 100 %.

Language in which the selection procedure will be conducted:

  • Czech.

Salary:

  • according to the Internal Wage Regulations of the University of Ostrava: 8th wage tariff + personal bonus.

Job description:

  • teaching in bachelor's, master's and doctoral study programmes (including supervising and opposing theses) and participating in the development of these study programmes;
  • supervising in doctoral study programmes;
  • teaching (in the long term average) of usually 4 – 8 hours per week per semester;
  • participating in creative activity – especially in the form of solving complex research and development tasks, active publication activity in peer-reviewed journals, leading/coordinating major research projects (including sources of funding), participating in scientific conferences, presentation of the results of creative activity;
  • taking part in the third role of the university – especially in the form of popularizing creative activity;
  • participating in the administration and management connected with the performed activity and in the self-government of the university.

Requirements:

  • master's degree in Slavonic philology (Polish / Russian studies) – linguistics / literary science;
  • appointment as professor in Slavonic philology (Polish / Russian studies) – linguistics / literary science;
  • relevant publication activity in the field of Slavonic philology (linguistics / literary science) in accordance with the scientific focus of the department (in the last 5 years);
  • EU research level: R3 – Established/R4 – Leading (research group);
  • prerequisites for pedagogical and scientific research activities;
  • willingness to participate in the qualification growth of the department;
  • knowledge of the Czech language at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • knowledge of the English language at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
  • experience in dealing with grant and scientific research projects an advantage;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • proactive approach, systematic and independent;
  • civil and moral integrity.
