Head of the Department of Sociology
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava announces selection procedures ref. no. OU-71317/25-2024 to fill the following place
- Head of the Department of Sociology
(Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor with the position of head of the Department of Sociology for 2 years)
General requirements:
- university education in the relevant field;
- appointment as a Professor or Associate Professor or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in the field;
- pedagogical and research practice;
- publication activities in the field;
- background of Labor Law Regulations and economic rules of management at Public Universities;
- EU research level – R2 – Recognized or R3 – Established/R4 – Leading (research group);
- organizational skills.
Language requirements:
- knowledge of English Language, min. at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- knowledge of Czech Language, min. at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Expected starting date of the function:
- November 1st, 2024 or by agreement.
Required documents:
- consent to the processing of personal data (not required of faculty members);
- a professional curriculum vitae including an overview of the applicant's previous career experience (not required of faculty members);
- copies of certificates of completed education, academic degrees obtained (not required of faculty members);
- a list of the applicant's academic publications (not required of faculty members);
- the concept of development of the department and study programs according to the requirements stated in the structure corresponding to the appendix “Workplace Development Project”;
- a letter of motivation.
The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials sent by applicants. Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in the second round.

Final provisions
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts OU reserves the right to invite only selected candidates to a personal interview and also the right not to select any candidate. The selection procedure may be cancelled or re-announced.
