Assistant professor with focus on English Language and English Language Didactics

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure, reference number: OU-92592/25-2024, to fill an academic position of:
- 2 assistant professors / associate professors with focus on English language at the Department of English and American Studies
Expected starting date:
- September, 2024, or by agreement.
Working hours:
- full-time: 100 %.
Salary:
- according to the Internal Regulations of the University of Ostrava

- Czech
Job description:
- teaching in bachelor's and master's study programmes (including supervising and opposing theses) and participating in the development of these study programmes;
- participating in the doctoral study programmes (in case of approval by the scientific council of the faculty);
- leading courses of English linguistics and didactics of the English language, supervising the practical training of students of the MA program Teaching English at Secondary Schools;
- participating in creative activity – especially in the form of solving demanding research tasks, active publication activity in peer-reviewed journals, participating in scientific conferences, presentation of the results of creative activity;
- participating in the third role of the university – especially in the form of popularizing creative activity, in the administration connected with the performed activity and in the self-government of the university.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree in English Studies or obtaining Ph.D. before concluding the employment relationship;
- EU research level: R2 – Recognized;
- research and teaching focus in English language and didactics;
- relevant publication activity in the last 5 years in the field of English linguistics/ didactics;
- potential for further academic growth;
- experience in dealing with grant projects an advantage;
- knowledge of the English language at C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
- proactive approach, systematic and independent;
- excellent communication and organizational skills;
- civil and moral integrity.

The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials sent by applicants. Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in a second round of remote interviews.
