The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure, reference number: OU-71750/25-2024, to fill the following systematized position of:

  • Tenure Track Researcher II (non-academic staff members – researchers, systemized position Researcher II or III) within the project REFRESH - Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries, reg. no. CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048

Expected starting date:

  • 1st of October, 2024 (or by agreement).

Working hours:

  • full-time – 100 %.

Language in which the selection procedure will be conducted:

  • Czech/English.

Salary:

  • according to the Internal Regulations of the University of Ostrava. We offer outstanding and internationally competitive salaries that allow a good quality of living in the Czech Republic.

Job description:

  • co-solving of complex research/development tasks within the project Refresh;
  • collaborating in a research team with other researchers at the University of Ostrava and a partner university;
  • active publishing activities according to the requirements of the field and in accordance with the Refresh project proposal;
  • securing research funding (submitting grants, seeking other opportunities).

Requirements:

  • at least 5 years after Ph.D.;
  • EU research level: R2 – Recognized / R3 – Established;
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in sociology;
  • publication activities in sociology or related fields (at least 7 publications indexed in the Web of Science or SCOPUS databases, monographs or chapters in monographs);
  • H-index (WoS or Scopus) of at least 2 or Scholar 4 or at least 30 citations;
  • experience in participation in grant projects and/or international research stay of a total duration of 3 months;
  • experience working in research groups;
  • fluent English, comparable to level B2 of the Common European Framework Reference for Languages;
  • knowledge of other foreign languages an advantage;
  • independent, responsible and creative approach to work;
  • ability to collaborate on social aspects of energy transition with partner universities would be an advantage;
  • research experience and future projects plans in the subject of community transformation (e.g. effects on family, environment, youth/older adults, political attitudes, communities) due to labour market changes within the context of changing large-scale political and economic systems. Qualitative and/or quantitative approaches are desired.
