Postdoc (systemized position Postdoc I) within the project REFRESH

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure, reference number: OU-70726/25-2024, to fill the following systematized position of:
- 2 postdocs (non-academic staff members – researchers, systemized position Postdoc I) within the project REFRESH - Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries reg. no. CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048
Expected starting date:
- 1st of October, 2024 (or by agreement).
Working hours:
- full-time – 100 %.
Language in which the selection procedure will be conducted:
- English.
Salary:
- according to the Internal Regulations of the University of Ostrava.
Job description:
- co-solving of complex research/development tasks within the project Refresh;
- collaborating in a research team with other researchers at the University of Ostrava and a partner university;
- active publishing according to the needs of the field and according to the Refresh project proposal; at least one publication (Jimp or Jsc) per year;
- securing research funding (submitting grants, seeking other opportunities).
Requirements:
- Ph.D. received in the last 5 years; EU research level – R2 – Recognized;
- Ph.D. or equivalent in history or a related field;
- at least 4 publications in history or related fields (journal papers indexed in Web of Science or chapters in monographs or articles in proceedings or monographs);
- H-index (WoS or Scopus) of at least 1 or Scholar 3 or at least 20 citations;
- Experience in grant projects and/or international research stays for a total duration of at least one month;
- fluent English, comparable to Level B2, knowledge of other languages an advantage;
- independent, responsible and creative approach to work;
- ability to collaborate on historical aspects of energy transition with partner universities is an advantage;
- research experience and future projects plans in the interdisciplinary environmental-, technological-, economic-, and social history of authoritarian regimes with a focus on modern Eastern-, Southeastern-, and Southern Europe.

- cover letter;
- professional curriculum vitae including an overview of the applicant's previous career experience;
- scanned copy of the highest academic degree;
- list of applicant's publications;
- four-year research proposal of no more than five standard pages, addressing at least one of the above research areas and the project topic with the focus on transforming coal mining regions into sustainable and educated regions.
The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials sent by applicants. Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in a second round of remote interviews.
