The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure, reference number: OU-52481/25-2024, to fill an academic position of:

  • Assistant professor in Russian language at the Department of Slavonic studies

When will we welcome you among us?

  • 1st of October, 2024 (or by agreement)

Type of employment contract:

  • part-time: 25 %
  • fixed–term contract, in case of mutual satisfaction, the employment relationship will be extended

Salary:

  • according to the Internal Regulations of the University of Ostrava

Language in which the selection process will be conducted:

  • Czech

Job description:

  • teaching in bachelor's and master's study programs (including supervising and opposing theses) and participating in the development of the study programs
  • in case of approval by the scientific council of the faculty, the assistant professor participates in the doctoral study programs
  • creative activity (solving demanding research tasks, active publication activity in peer-reviewed journals, or other forms of publication outputs, participation in scientific conferences, active presentation of the results of creative activity, etc.)
  • participating in the third role of the university, especially in the form of popularizing creative activity, in the administration connected with the performed activity and in the administration of the university

Qualifications and other prerequisites:

  • Master’s degree in the field of Russian philology
  • doctoral degree in the field of Russian philology or in the field of Slavic philology with a focus on Russian
  • prerequisites for pedagogical activity in the given field
  • appropriate scientific and publication activity in the field
  • experience with involvement in grant and scientific research projects
  • experience with translation of professional texts and simultaneous/consecutive interpreting is an advantage
  • EU research level: "R2 - Recognized"
  • knowledge of the English language at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • knowledge of the Czech language at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • excellent communication skills
  • independent, responsible and creative approach to work
  • civil and moral integrity
