The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure, reference number: OU-51820/25-2024, to fill an academic position of:
- Assistant professor in General linguistics

Type of employment contract:
- part-time: 40 %
Salary:
- according to the Internal Regulations of the University of Ostrava
Language in which the selection process will be conducted:
- Czech/English
Job description:
- teaching in bachelor's and master's study programs (including supervising and opposing theses) and participating in the development of the study programs
- in case of approval by the scientific council of the faculty, the assistant professor participates in the doctoral study programs
- creative activity (solving demanding research tasks, active publication activity in peer-reviewed journals, or other forms of publication outputs, participation in scientific conferences, active presentation of the results of creative activity, etc.)
- participating in the third role of the university, especially in the form of popularizing creative activity, in the administration connected with the performed activity and in the administration of the university
What we ecpect from you:
- Ph.D. in General linguistics
- research and pedagogical focus on General linguistics
- EU research level: R2 – recognized
- publications in the last 5 years in the field of General linguistics, studies registered in WoS databases, or SCOPUS
- active engagement in research related to the subject areas (submission and involvement in international research projects is expected)
- supervision of graduate and postgraduate research
- potential for further academic growth
- experience with managing grant projects
- proactive approach and the ability to work systematically and individually on own initiative
- excellent interpersonal, communication and organization(al) skills
- knowledge of English Language, min. at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- in the case of an applicant with a mother tongue other than Czech, knowledge of the Czech language at the level of min. A1 –A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
