The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure (ref. no. OU-142024/25-2023) to fill the following systematized vacancy:

  • 4 vacancies for an academic staff member – Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor for British and American Literature and Culture / Translation / English Language / General Linguistics at the Department of English and American Studies

When will we welcome you among us?

Type of employment contract:

  • full-time

Wage conditions:

  • according to the Internal Wage Regulations

What we expect from you:

  • assistant professor: Ph.D. in British and American literature / Translation / English language / General linguistics
  • associate professor: habilitation in British and American literature / Translation / English language / General linguistics
  • professor: appointment as a professor in the field of in British and American literature / Translation / English language / General linguistics
  • research and pedagogical focus on British and American literature and culture / Translation / English language / General linguistics
  • EU research level: assistant professor: R2 – recognized; associate professor and professor: R3 – Established / R4 – Leading
  • publications in the last 5 years in the field of British and American literature and culture / / Translation / English language / General linguistics
  • engage actively in research related to the subject areas
  • supervision of graduate and postgraduate research
  • potential for further academic growth
  • experience with managing grant projects
  • proactive approach and the ability to work systematically and individually on own initiative
  • excellent interpersonal, communication and organization(al) skills
  • knowledge of English Language, min. at level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

  • a professional curriculum vitae including an overview of the applicant's previous career experience
  • contacts (e-mail, telephone) to two persons who can be contacted to provide oral recommendations
  • copies of certificates of completed education and academic degrees
  • a list of the applicant's publications

The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials sent by applicants. Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in the second round.
