Assistant professor with Ph.D. or assistant professor without Ph.D. for English Language

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure (ref. no. OU-30357/25-2019) to fill the following vacancy:

  • 1 vacancy for an academic staff member – assistant professor with Ph.D. or assistant professor without Ph.D. for English Language with a full-time contract at the Department of English and American Studies

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in English Philology;
  • Ph.D. in English Philology (with a focus on the modern English language) or current doctoral studies with planned completion in the academic year 2019/2020;
  • research and teaching specialization in the modern English language;
  • publications in the field of English linguistics during the last 5 years;
  • potential for further career development (for assistant professor with Ph.D., potential for habilitation i.e. associate professorship);
  • experience of working on grant-funded projects is welcome;
  • independent, responsible and creative approach to work.

Wages:

  • Wage grade 3 or 2 (as per the University of Ostrava's internal wage regulations).

Working hours:

  • Full-time (100% of the standard contracted hours) or by agreement.

Expected starting date:

  • a professional curriculum vitae including an overview of the applicant's previous career experience;
  • contacts (e-mail, telephone) to two persons who can be contacted to provide oral recommendations;
  • copies of certificates of completed education and academic degrees;
  • a list of the applicant's publications.

The first round of the selection procedure will involve the assessment of the materials sent by applicants. Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in the second round. The employer reserves the right to cancel the selection procedure or to decide not to accept any of the applications without stating the grounds for this decision.
