If you are interested in studying and living in the Czech Republic and you wish to spend a semester or two as an exchange student at the University of Ostrava, firstly you should contact the Erasmus Coordinator or International Relations Officer at your home institution. If there is a bilateral agreement under the Erasmus Programme signed between your home university and the University of Ostrava’s Faculty and you are chosen as an exchange student, get in touch with our International Relations Officer – Erasmus Faculty Coordinator. The sooner the better.
We advise all Erasmus exchange students to print out and fill in the following documents (available on-line):

Kindly note that all documents must be sent before the deadlines listed below. Unfortunately accommodation cannot be guaranteed if you apply after these deadlines:
If you need help choosing subjects when filling in your Learning Agreement, the Contact Person for each Department will be able to assist you.
You will receive an official Letter of Acceptance and will be provided with all other relevant information concerning your studies at the Faculty of Arts, including detailed information on your chosen courses, directly from the Erasmus Faculty Coordinator after processing of your application documents.
It is absolutely essential that you inform the International Relations Officer in advance about your exact arrival time in Ostrava, so that the details about your pick-up can be specified. There is International Student Club of the University of Ostrava for you to make your arrival and settling down in Ostrava as easy as possible. ISC also runs Buddy Programme which will arrange Buddy for you. We recommend you to come to Ostrava on a weekday (Monday to Friday).
On your day of arrival you will be met by the International Student Club either at Ostrava Main Railway Station or Ostrava Central Bus Station, depending on your choice. Our Student Buddies will help you to reach your accommodation, deal with the very first formalities required by the manager of the student halls of residence and assist you in finding your way to the International Relations Office Desk. For detailed information about International Student Club, please click isc.osu.eu.
After getting acquainted with your accommodation and getting an idea of your surroundings, you should register at the International Relations Office Desk at the Faculty of Arts, in the centre of the city.
You will be required to submit the following documents:
The Staff of the IRO will provide you with further instructions on how to get a Student Identification Card, access to the University Library, dining halls and computer rooms. Your Buddy (Student Tutor) will show you round the Faculty building and its surroundings, and will familiarise you with your new academic environment.
After your arrival in Ostrava and registration at the IRO Desk, you will have to finalise your choice of courses so that they correspond to your background, needs and interests. You will also need to draw up your own timetable, however you will be given a helping hand by the student representatives and departamental coordinators. The timetable of all courses will be available via the internet along with up-to-date information on courses cancelled due to insufficient numbers of students enrolled.
